Official: Russia should become 2nd fastest in digital fincl assets

MOSCOW, Sep 6 (PRIME) -- Russia should not necessarily be the first in the industry of digital financial assets, but it is better to be “the rapid second,” Dmitry Peskov, special representative of the country’s president for digital issues and technological development, said on Thursday at a financial forum.

“We need a fast moving development, but we should not be the first. It’s a simple strategy of the Russian government, which has been successfully implemented over the recent years. Let’s name this strategy ‘the rapid second’,” Peskov said.

This strategy allows the country to learn on others’ missteps. “Some people introduce technologies and collect all the errors. We’ll quickly pick up all these solutions and go forward if they suit us.”

The country still lacks a legal status of cryptocurrencies, initial coin offering, mining or crowdfunding, but several bills on the matter are under consideration.
